Weight Loss and Clothes

Well, it ends up my suspicions about weight loss were correct. In fact, I lost much more weight than I guessed. Unfortunately, one of the down falls of losing weight is when your clothes become much too big. That is when a tailor or creative styling can be your best friend. For some of my blazers that are too big, I find they look great as oversized boyfriend-style blazers. For those that are meant to be bit more streamlined, I took those to a tailor along with quite a few pairs of jeans. All my blouses are too large as well, but like the blazers, some look good loose and messy. Luckily I have always been a fan of the I-Stole-My-Boyfriend's-Shirt look.

And here are some random pictures I found awhile ago that I liked.

As I am sure everyone is aware school has started, at least for most of us, and so far I have been having a great start. Busy, but great. I have my first apartment this year, which I am loving. I am lucky enough to have a mom who was an interior designer for many years because, for the most part, I neither care about nor understand arranging a living space. I just know what kind of things I want to be surrounded by or what environment I want. I have to say it is looking amazing so far but it isn't quite finished just yet. I've also been pretty busy in a number of new extracuriculars (maybe even too many...) that I am really enjoying and I have added some things to my degree that I am very happy about. It also seems like I might be losing weight and trimming up from running around all the time which is fine by me! I have been making a big effort to propel myself in and out of school. Using my time productively, getting involved, being organized, finding new interests, and most importantly learning have been my priorities. Point being, its been a busy time with a lot of positive changes and I haven't been caring about posting random pictures I like recently, which is no great loss to the blog's readers (if there are any...) I'm sure. I was going to do some posts about movies or something random but I was too lazy...
I think it would be interesting to post pictures of people or things that I find interesting or striking from my own sphere as opposed to editorials and whatnot but I don't have a camera (I don't even have a camera phone due to the fact that I recently broke my iPhone, so maybe that is not one of the positive changes happening currently) and I am creatively challenged so they would probably be uninspiring anyway, but who knows. OOOO! And I totally know who/what I am going to be for Halloween.

If you didn't read this post or if you don't want to here are some pictures of the most gorgeous man and talented actor that ever lived.

Growing up my mom and I have always had a tradition of watching old movies at the end of the day. Classic films have always been a part of my life but I still enjoyed the newer movies as well, but for the last number of years I feel like 99% of the current movies are total crap. It seems that if I decide to go to the theaters, I can guarantee it will be a movie with at best mediocre acting and a bad plot. I don't know if my preferences have changed or if it is the quality of movies that come out anymore.
Anyway, because of this, for the last year I have been watching old films nonstop. Even more often than our nightly tradition. Now that is summer I have been watching movies until the AM every night. My favorite movies are usually from the 1940s, 1930s, and 1920s. I do love many films from 1950s and 1960s as well, but not quite as much.

This reason I made this post is because this month on TCM is a great time to check out some of the best classic films. Two weeks I had watched a silent film with Rudolph Valentino called The Sheik on YouTube and coincidently this month on TCM is Race and Hollywood: Arab Images on Film in which they will be showing The Sheik and The Son of the Sheik. TCM will also air a number of other silent and "talkie" films and arguably the best movie ever made: Lawrence of Arabia, which stars my husband Peter O'Toole (I have adored Peter O'Toole since I can remember. Back off! He is mine!!!!!). I am also looking forward to seeing the first The Thief of Baghdad with Douglass Fairbanks, the first "King of Hollywood" before Clark Gable. You can learn more at http://www.tcm.com/aiof/index.html .

Point being, if you are already an avid classic films lover or if you would like to delve into the world of old films, this month on TCM has a particularly good lineup. And bonus for me, Conan will be a guest programmer on July 4th! Also, if you are a fan of SNL's Bill Heder, he has begun Essentials Jr which I am curious to see what he has lined up.
